Drawings

I showed a natural aptitude for drawing from an early age. During my early adolescence, I studied for two and a half years at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, where I specialised in printmaking and produced several intaglio engravings on zinc plates. Although my scientific career left little time for artistic practice, I never lost my interest in drawing. Years later, a commission to create a series of portraits for literary publications rekindled this passion. More recently, I joined the Daily Drawing Challenge community on Facebook, which encouraged me to draw regularly again. My current practice focuses primarily on pen and ink, while also exploring graphite and watercolour. I am particularly fascinated by faces and human expressions, which is why portraiture has become one of my favourite subjects.
